Providing firearms training and safety education while building confidence and skills through knowledge and practice.
My name is Glen Mizer, and I am a retired US Army Ranger instructor and Training Specialist for the Airborne and Ranger Training Brigade at Ft. Moore, GA. I've trained and certified over 900 Commissioned and Non-Commissioned Officers to become Ranger Instructors both in the ARTB and the 75th Ranger Regiment. Currently I am a NRA Range Safety Officer, Pistol Instructor, American Heart Association First Aid CPR/AED and Active Shooter Defense Instructor with over 20 years of instructor experience.
With Sharpen & Refine, you can improve your situational awareness and personal security by learning basic firearms safety and use, active shooter defense, and American Heart Association First Aid CPR/AED.
I am excited to announce my partnership with Freedom Mill Training Center, the premier training center for pistol, rifle, and defensive shotgun in addition to active shooter defense, and medical training.
I will travel to your location and train your staff at your location in first aid and high-quality CPR and AED. This saves you time and travel by allowing the trainer to come to you. This certification is through the American Heart Association, and certification is good for two years and meets OSHA requirements.
Learn high quality CPR and AED for adults, children, and infants.
Combine First aid with CPR and AED in your workplace and be prepared for medical emergencies.
Pricing varies based on certification and training needed. Contact me for more information.
DART: Deterrence, Action, Response, and Training is a systematic approach that will teach you how to avoid, escape from, or take action against an active shooter.
Q- How long does your training take?
A- I will tailor your training to your environment. Normally between 1.5 to 3 hours is sufficient.
Q- What if my company has multiple locations?
A- I will travel to the other training site.
Q- Who do you train?
A- I will train anyone who wants to learn, from private citizens, school administrators, businesses, or churches.
Training people how to deter, avoid, or defeat an active shooting is one of the most rewarding courses that I teach. Using the DART process, helping people learn that they can in fact have a vote in that situation is priceless.

AR-15 Level 1 Introduction and Manipulation will teach you everything you need to know about your AR from disassembly and reassembly, to shooting fundamentals.
AR-15 Level 2 Practical Rifle will teach you how to use your rifle effectively. Learning everything from proper use of cover and concealment, conducting reloads, and clearing malfunctions will increase your confidence and skills.
AR-15 Level 3 continues to build on the skills learned in Level 2, plus learning how to shoot around cover and concealment on your alternate side.
The handgun is the most popular self-defense weapon. Simply buying a gun doesn't mean you are armed. I can help you with everything from introduction to the weapon, to drawing from the holster, and shooting in the dark. I will tailor your training to your level of knowledge and experience.
I begin every training session with the four rules of firearm safety and reiterate throughout the training session. Safety is paramount when training with all firearms.
The shotgun is sometimes discounted as an effective home defense tool. To the contrary, the right shotgun, when used correctly, with the appropriate ammunition, can be a significant addition to your home defense security plan.
Home Defense Shotgun Level 2 will teach you how to use cover and concealment, conduct reloads, and use alternate firing positions and techniques.
Home Defense Shotgun Level 3 will continue to build on the skills learned in Level 2, however you never know when you may have to shoot from your alternate or non-dominate side. This class will teach you how to do that.
Security audits and consultations
I will come to your office, school, or church and conduct a walk through with you to help identify potential weak spots in your building security. I can provide a report to help you decide which areas of concern should be addressed first.
At Sharpen & Refine LLC., I believe that citizens should have the ability to remain safe and secure in any environment. This is why I have developed many courses in addition to shooting that will help people do just that, stay safe. These courses include:
Sharpen & refine refund policy:
I limit my class sizes to provide an exceptional and individualized experience for each student. Once a class is scheduled, resources are committed, classroom/range availability are arranged, and numerous other costs associated with the class are incurred based on the number of students who register for the class. These commitments are the same, even when students who have registered don’t show up for a class. Additionally, some of our classes don’t have enough room for everyone that wants to attend. Overflow students are placed on a waitlist to be called when a registered student needs to cancel and open up a seat in the class. In order to adequately prepare for my classes, I require prepayment and pre-registration for all private lessons and training classes. 1. If you are unable to attend a class, you must provide notice no later than 72 hours prior to the scheduled class or private lesson start date and time in order to receive a full refund or to reschedule without penalty. This time frame allows me to attempt to fill the slot that was held for you. If you request a refund, there will be a $5.00 refund fee charged to the customer. 2. Individuals that do not show up for the scheduled class and do not provide notice prior to the class agree to forfeit the class fee in full. 4. Should Sharpen & Refine LLC. cancel a class for any reason and there is not a suitable date offered, Sharpen & refine will refund the class fee in full to the customer. Students will receive a certificate of completion at the end of each course. To see additional classes available, visit https://sharpenrefinellc.com.
